SRI & ESG INVESTING
A brief overview of “SRI” (Sustainable, Responsible, Impact Investing, or Socially Responsible Investing) and “ESG” (Environmental, Social, Governance) investing methods.
The objectives of this overview are:
(i) to address common terminology;
(ii) to discuss ESG as a discipline that can be used in conjunction with, a sustainability or impact orientation; and
(iii) to briefly address the effect of SRI/ESG on investment performance.
ESG & ESG Integration
This paper is a standalone introduction to Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) integration, from a primarily public markets perspective. It can also be read as a follow-up to “SRI and ESG Investing”, which addresses definitions and the different approaches often described by SRI and ESG.
The objectives of this overview are to:
(i) provide background on why ESG factors are increasingly being leveraged for security selection and portfolio construction;
(ii) discuss the impact on performance resulting from incorporating, or not incorporating, ESG factors; and
(iii) address the variations in approaches to ESG integration.
